The Cultural Circle of German Business and Industry within the Federation of German Industry has honored Deutsche Bank for its commitment to education and art. During a festive event on September 4, 2008 held in Berlin, this year's winner of the Cultural Sponsorship Prize was announced: In the "large companies" category, Friedhelm Hütte, Global Head Deutsche Bank Art, accepted the prize for Deutsche Bank. The bank's innovative project "Wallraf the Museum Bus" enables schoolchildren to visit the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne free of charge. The drive alone in the brightly colored bus is an experience for the pupils. The bus is equipped with monitors on which a short film is shown familiarizing the young people with the museum, its staff, and its tasks. Then, at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, an educational program specifically geared to the pupils' age group awaits them.

A museum educationist accompanies the pupils through the building, where workships such as "Wallraf: Scene of the Crime – Looking for Clues in the Museum" arouses their interest in the pictures and sculptures on exhibit. "The 'Wallraf the Museum Bus' project combines creativity, refreshing educational ideas, a lively website, and interesting teaching materials for the school with long-term commitment and continual further development," said the jury. "In the second half of the 2007/2008 school year alone, 1,565 pupils took advantage of the museum bus offer. But the best thing is: The idea can be copied easily in other cities! And the jury would like to expressly encourage this."
