Another Energy: Power to Continue Challenging – 16 Women Artists from around the World

Club of visionaries: The Mori Art Museum is honoring globally active pioneers of the feminist avant-garde who began their careers between the 1950s and 1970s and are still active today. This is a very special exhibition, as the age of the artists, who come from 14 different countries, ranges from 71 to 104. On top of that, many of them are only now really gaining recognition.

Their work is finally being recognized by institutions after many years of perseverance, and is only now establishing itself on the art market. In this respect, it is not only a matter of perseverance, but given that politics and culture worldwide are still mostly dominated by men, it is also about a “different energy”—the hope for more female voices and female thinking in the future. Among the participants in this long overdue show are iconic female artists such as Phyllida Barlow, Miriam Cahn, Carmen Herrera, Kazuko Miyamoto, and Arpita Singh.
